I have become much more selective about base products because I no longer want foundation to look like a separate layer sitting on my face. What matters most to me now is how naturally a formula blends, how comfortable it feels after a few hours, and whether I can still see some life in my skin underneath.
I tried these three on different kinds of makeup days, and each ended up serving a slightly different purpose. None of them gives me exactly the same finish, which is probably why I can imagine keeping all three in rotation.
Three Bases, Three Moods

1. L’Oréal Accord Parfait

The L’Oréal Accord Parfait is the one I reach for when I want my complexion to look fresher without feeling like I have applied a traditional foundation. The texture feels light and fluid, so I usually start with a small amount and blend it quickly with my fingers or a damp sponge. I like how easy it is to spread in a thin layer, especially around the centre of my face where I normally want a little more evening out. On me, the result looks soft rather than overly perfected, which makes it particularly useful for everyday makeup. I also appreciate that I can build it slightly without immediately losing that lighter feel.

2. Guerlain Parure Gold Skin

Guerlain Parure Gold Skin feels like the more polished option of the three. I tend to choose it when I want my base to look smoother and a little more refined, especially for dinners or days when I know I will be wearing makeup for longer. What I noticed immediately was how elegant the finish looked once blended — still skin-like, but more perfected than the L’Oréal formula. I prefer applying it with a brush and then pressing over certain areas with a sponge, which gives me the most seamless result. It is the one that makes me slow down slightly during application because I enjoy the finished look more when I take my time.

3. Skinjestique Your Perfect BB Cream

The Skinjestique Your Perfect BB Cream is the easiest choice when I want something straightforward. I usually reach for BB creams on quiet mornings when a full base feels unnecessary, and this fits that mood well. It feels simple to spread, does not require much precision, and gives me enough of a polished effect to make the rest of my makeup look more pulled together. I like using it with cream blush and a little concealer rather than building a heavier base around it.
Three Bases, Three Moods
After trying all three, I realised I do not really want one foundation to do everything. I prefer having a lighter everyday option, a more polished formula, and an easy BB cream depending on how much effort I actually feel like putting into my makeup.
