I’ve been trying to make my daily makeup lighter without losing a polished finish. Instead of judging products after one use, I tried them on different days and realized texture, blending time, and how naturally they sit on skin matter far more to me than impressive packaging.

Some obvious favourites stayed favourites, while a few products I expected to love ended up lower in my personal ranking.

1. Skin Tints And Light Bases

My first place went to the L’Oréal Paris. I like how uncomplicated it feels: I can blend it quickly, build the coverage where I need it and still see my skin underneath. It gives me the kind of fresh finish I want when I am not in the mood for a traditional foundation. The Fenty Beauty complexion product came second for me. I enjoyed how polished it made my base look, but I found myself reaching for the L’Oréal option more often simply because it suited my quick makeup mornings better. Kylie Cosmetics Skin Tint Blurring Elixir took third place. I still liked the overall effect, although it felt slightly less effortless in my routine than the other two.

2. Blushes

This category was much closer. Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand took first place because I loved the soft, luminous effect it gave my cheeks without making the rest of my makeup feel overdone. The rhode blush came second and was probably the easiest option when I wanted something quick and compact. I liked tapping it in with my fingers and keeping the colour fairly soft. Rare Beauty finished third for me. The colour was lovely, but I had to be more careful with the amount because a little could quickly become more blush than I intended.

3. Contour And Sculpting

For sculpting, the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand was my first choice. I found it easy to place exactly where I wanted definition and then soften the edges without much effort. Lifter Stix came second because I liked the convenient stick format and how quickly I could work with it. The Morphe stick ranked third. It was still useful, but compared with the other two, I did not reach for it quite as naturally.

After trying everything side by side, I realised that my favourites were not necessarily the most dramatic products. I kept preferring formulas that made my makeup quicker, softer and easier to adjust.
